Overview – Industry Gathering Place
Attendees at the 2008 CONEXPO-CON/AGG and co-located IFPE expositions will find the latest equipment and product technologies and innovations to help solve their business challenges. Both shows will feature new and expanded education opportunities and a record amount of exhibit space. Most importantly, show organizers are committed to continuing the shows’ reputation for quality and service, to provide a positive show experience for all attendees and exhibitors.

CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2008 and IFPE 2008 will be the industry gathering place in 2008 for construction and power transmission professionals from around the globe. Advance registration is already tracking ahead of the pace set for the last shows, held in 2005, and more than 125,000 industry professionals are expected to attend.

They will comparison-shop for the latest equipment, products and services; participate in targeted education sessions that increase industry knowledge; and network with peers and competitors to exchange ideas and information. Register online at www.conexpoconagg.com or www.ifpe.com, or via fax or mail. Advance registration closes February 8, 2008. One registration allows access to the exhibits of both shows, and advance registration saves money off the on-site fee.

On the Show Floor

CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2008 exhibits now cover more than 2.28 million net square feet (212,024 square meters), taken by nearly 2,000 exhibitors, while IFPE exhibits cover 127,000 net square feet (11,7998 square meters) taken by 400 exhibitors.

Show visitors will find the leading U.S. and global manufacturers and service providers, who will be ready to discuss product features and applications to help attendees increase their productivity and their companies' profitability.

CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2008, as in past shows, will have exhibitors grouped into product-concentration areas to help attendees more easily find the products and companies they're most interested in. These product groupings are: aggregates, asphalt and compaction, concrete, earthmoving machinery and attachments, engines and components, information technology, trucks, utilities, lifting (aerial and cranes), associations/industry events, drilling, safety and traffic, and trenching and shoring.

CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2008 will also feature displays of historical equipment throughout the show, illustrating the industry's rich heritage and the show’s history from 1909 to the present.

New Show Floor Additions

New show-floor additions to CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2008 will focus on industry safety training and the need for a qualified industry workforce.

A special Safety Zone exhibit area will feature live demonstrations and information resources focused on jobsite safety, from groups including the U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), U.S. National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF).

Education Highlights

Education is an important component of the CONEXPO-CON/AGG and IFPE show experience.

The CONEXPO-CON/AGG education program will offer more than 120 sessions delivered by industry experts with a focus on industry trends, case studies and "how to" application techniques and strategies. The sessions are divided into 10 program tracks to help attendees locate topics of most interest to them: aggregates, asphalt, concrete, construction project management, earthmoving, environmental/recycling, equipment management, management, personal development and safety.

Getting Around at the Shows

Pre-show, attendees can go online to map out their visit ahead of time using the shows' interactive Virtual Trade Show, which includes an interactive floor plan of exhibits. Attendees can assemble a personalized list of companies and products they most want to see, thus maximizing their time onsite.

Show management is working with the convention center to configure exhibit areas for maximum convenience for attendees. The shows will be divided into product concentration areas, grouping similar products and companies. An expanded system of interactive product locators will be on the show floor for added convenience, searchable by company or product, and with seminar and meeting information also available. Fully-staffed information stands will be set up throughout the show.

Other show services will include an expanded (and free) shuttle bus system to transport visitors from hotels to and from the convention center, and an intra-show shuttle bus system will also be expanded. A comprehensive International Trade Center will be available to provide additional assistance to international visitors, with information in several world languages.

For attendees who have not registered in advance, streamlined registration processes will include self-registration kiosks at the shows and online registering during show days.

As part of its official Show Directory, CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2008 and IFPE 2008 will produce an Export Opportunities Guide (print and electronic versions available) for distribution onsite and to U.S. Commerce Department international posts. The guide is designed to help attendees easily locate companies interested in doing business on a worldwide basis through export sales, agency relationships, distributor investment or joint ventures.

Industry Support

More than 90 U.S., Canadian and worldwide trade associations and allied groups are official supporting organizations of CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2008 and/or IFPE 2008, promoting the shows’ value and bringing their memberships to the events. Joining U.S.-based groups are international industry-related organizations from Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Finland, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Turkey, United Kingdom and Venezuela. A record 11 associations are holding annual conventions or board meetings at the shows, and in total the shows expect to host more than 300 meetings of associations and companies.

Industry-Run Shows to Benefit the Industry

CONEXPO-CON/AGG and IFPE are shows run for and by the industry, with direction from industry companies and associations. This management philosophy puts manufacturer and customer needs first and earmarks show revenues to advance industry causes.

CONEXPO-CON/AGG principal sponsors are the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) and National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA) with the Associated General Contractors (AGC) as sponsor.

IFPE is co-owned by the National Fluid Power Association (NFPA) with AEM, NRMCA and NSSGA.
